The BBC has announced the shortlist for the 14th annual BBC Audio Drama Awards, shining a spotlight on the finest audio drama and comedy produced for on-air and online listening. Each year, these awards celebrate the immense range, innovation, and emotional resonance of the audio format – a tradition maintained by the BBC for over a century. From powerful original dramas and skillful adaptations to heartwarming comedy and immersive soundscapes, the shortlisted works represent some of the most compelling storytelling in audio today.

“Life Lines” – Best Original Series or Serial
Nominated in the Best Original Series or Serial category, Life Lines by Al Smith (producer Sally Avens, BBC Studios Audio London) is a poignant and human story that resonates deeply with listeners. We’re honoured that Rebecca Crankshaw’s involvement in “Life Lines” for BBC Radio 4 helped bring this tender narrative to life.

“Faith, Hope and Glory” – Best Original Series or Serial
Also shortlisted in the Best Original Series or Serial category is Faith, Hope and Glory by Carol Russell (producer Patricia Cumper, BBC Studios Audio London) explores themes of legacy, identity, and perseverance. We’re thrilled to note that Rebecca Crankshaw’s portrayal of Lorraine in “Faith, Hope and Glory” contributed to the richness and depth that made this series stand out to the judges.
“Money Gone” – Best Original Series or Serial, and Best Use of Sound
Money Gone by Ed Sellek (producer Eloise Whitmore, Naked Productions) earned a nomination in the Best Original Series or Serial category. Additionally, its expertly crafted audio environment garnered a nod for Best Use of Sound. We’re exceptionally proud of Melody Chikakane Brown’s contribution to “Money Gone”.
“Don’t Look Now” – Best Adaptation
Daphne du Maurier’s atmospheric tale Don’t Look Now (adapted by Katie Hims and produced by Sally Avens for BBC Studios Audio London) has been shortlisted for Best Adaptation. This classic story’s tension and mystery found renewed life in audio form, and we’re delighted to say that Rebecca Crankshaw’s featured in the role of Dorcas.

Looking Ahead
Finalists for the BBC Audio Drama Awards will be announced in mid-February, along with the Imison and Tinniswood Awards. At that point, finalists will receive invitations to the winners’ ceremony at the BBC Radio Theatre on Sunday, 30 March 2025.
