JONATHON CARLEY reprises his role as the War Doctor in the new Big Finish audio drama Doctor Who: The War Doctor Rises – Fear of the Light, due for release in May 2026.

Fleeing from the Daleks in the midst of the Time War, the Doctor sends a desperate distress call – only for it to be answered by one of his oldest friends and deadliest foes: the Rani. Forced into an uneasy alliance, the War Doctor must confront the unthinkable as past rivalries collide with the fate of the universe.

The story also stars Siobhán Redmond as the Rani and Nicholas Briggs as the Daleks, and is produced by Big Finish Productions. Written by Rochana Patel and produced by David Richardson, the three-part epic explores the complex history between two of Gallifrey’s most notorious renegades, re-examining the Rani’s legacy and her relationship with the Doctor during the darkest days of the Time War.

Producer David Richardson describes the script as “a stunning reunion” that places the War Doctor and the Rani at the heart of a story about history, rivalry, and survival, while Rochana Patel calls it “the missing piece” of both characters’ journeys.
